CELEBRITY LOVE ISLAND: FRAN'S GRAND; He scoops pounds 150,000 with Jayne as pair are crowned winners.

FRAN Cosgrave and Jayne Middlemiss and were last night crowned the golden couple of Celebrity Love Island.

They headed off into the sunset with pounds 75,000 each after a massive public vote.

Geordie TV presenter Jayne, 34, cried 27 times during her five weeks on the Fijian paradise island but was lost for words last night.

She clasped her head in her hands as she tried to take in the result. Irish nightclub owner Fran, 27, hugged former footballer Lee Sharpe, runner up with Atomic Kitten star Liz McClarnon, and said: "Thank you very much."

But there's no chance of romance between Jayne and Fran. Jayne called him her "brother". Fran added: "We just had a really nice time."

Shaking with emotion, Fran added: "I'm completely stuck for words. I'm really shocked. The whole experience has been amazing."

Jayne added: "It's unbelievable. I never thought I'd win."

Liz, 24, said: "I'm a little bit sad, but not because Jayne won, I love her. I honestly don't know why love didn't blossom for me."

She joked: "I don't think I got in there quick enough!"

After winning, Jayne declared her undying love for Lee, 34, but admitted she didn't want him to know her true feelings as he kissed and wooed Abi Titmuss.

She sobbed: "He's binned me off on telly, copped off with another bird and declared his undying love for her. K**bhead!"

After discovering he had not won the show Lee later said in a TV interview: "That's a bit of a surprise. I've hardly declared my undying love for Abi. That's going to make things a little tricky." Earlier the war over Lee had raged on when Jayne branded rival Abi "a fake".

She laid into evicted Abi over her treatment of "brother" Lee, saying: "I think she's fake, thorny and I just don't f****** believe it. I don't think she knows herself that well. I think she is very confused."

Jayne, knocked back by Lee at the start of the ITV1 series, admitted in the Beach Hut she was worried about his reaction to her showdown with Abi, in which she accused the glamour girl of "using" him in a bid to win the show. Yesterday Jayne said: "He might have thought I'd overstepped the mark. I was very unsure about who Abi was and what the hell was going on.

"Time will tell. I know what I believe and I don't believe it. I believe she was doing what she thought people wanted to see.

"She's messing with my brother. Lee has to find it out for himself and he will."

Lee has admitted he felt "really good" after hearing Jayne had told Abi off for using him.

He said: "I am getting goose pimples just thinking about it. She is like a sister. It's good to know someone like Jayne is looking out for you.

"I was shocked and surprised. To have spent five weeks with someone and to have got so close to them that they felt the need to look after me was nice. She had my best interests at heart. It's really touching.

"It was a really nice thought. I would pick her in my football team. She would be a midfielder, a little ratter kicking everyone and protecting everyone on her team. She'd be all over the pitch making sure everyone is all right."

In a thinly veiled warning to Abi, Lee said: "I don't think many girls would mess around with Jayne."
