CEI BILLS DROP TODAY

CLEVELAND, March 1 /PRNewswire/ -- Cleveland Electric Illuminating Company bills for a typical customer using 500 kilowatthours of electricity a month will drop $1.03 beginning today.
The Public Utilities Commission of Ohio (PUCO) recently approved the company's request to reduce fuel charges.
The typical household using 500 kilowatthours of electricity paid $57.78 a month, which includes $8.02 for fuel. Starting today and running through September, charges for fuel on a typical customer's bill will drop to $6.99 per month. These charges are adjusted every September and March.
The decrease in fuel charges are due in part to the operations of the Perry and Davis-Besse nuclear power plants. These savings are passed directly on to customers.
Fuel charges involve the cost of purchasing coal, oil and uranium to power generating plants. It also includes any power the company must buy from other utilities to meet customers' needs, and the cost of transferring the power from one utility to another.
