CE Policy to Focus on Creditable Providers.

To ensure the quality of continuing education members receive outside of the Appraisal Institute Education Network, beginning next year the sponsors of such programs must be on a creditable providers list if the programs are submitted for Appraisal Institute continuing education credit. Effective January 1, 2002. to add a program to a member's CE Logbook, the program must be on the creditable topics list and the sponsor of the program must be on the creditable providers list.

Current continuing education policy only requires the topic to be on the creditable topics list. Although this allows members flexibility in fulfilling their CE requirements, the providers may be of uncertain quality. While other providers may offer programs on topics that would benefit members, those programs should be of similar quality to those offered through the Education Network.

Creditable providers are:

* Appraisal Institute Education Network providers (national, regions, chapters, partners)

* Accredited universities and colleges

* The Appraisal Foundation (TAF) appraisal sponsors and TAF non-Appraisal sponsors [*]

* Certain special program providers such as AIRD and PropertyFirst, co-ventures with the Appraisal Institute

* Universities that are chapter-endorsed (technically these are Education Network offerings)

* Non-Appraisal Institute education providers that have received approval for a seminar through the Appraiser Qualifications Board's Course Approval Program (CAP)

* Bar Associations
