MADISON HEIGHTS, Mich., Aug. 16 /PRNewswire/ -- CDI Corporation (NYSE: CDI) today announced a merger of its CDI Computer Services and Innovative Information Systems, Inc. (IISI) subsidiaries, as a strategic move positioning both companies as leaders in computer services and integration for existing and emerging technologies. CDI Computer Services' extensive experience in recruiting and fielding technical professionals will be used to more than double IISI's staff of 200 consulting professionals, allowing the company to expand consulting services to a wider range of clients and develop a larger presence in the Midwest. CDI Computer Services will gain additional responsibilities for project management and integration services in 10 states. Offices in Detroit will retain the CDI Computer Services name, and offices in California, Pennsylvania, Virginia, New Hampshire, Arizona, Florida and North Carolina will be known as Innovative Information Systems, Inc. Additional offices are scheduled to be opened under the IISI name in Wisconsin, Minnesota and Illinois in 1994. "With technology being released at an accelerating pace, a shortage of qualified technical people in the computer industry has developed, making this merger important to the continued growth of both companies," said Walter R. Garrison, chairman of CDI Corporation. "By joining these complementary business units into one entity, we're better positioned to meet the increased demands of our customers, whether they be systems integration, LAN management or visual engineering." "Our relationships with clients are based on their needs," said Greg Stanalajczo, vice president of CDI Computer Services. "Our team of professionals has in-depth knowledge of today's wide variety of information systems, vital to recommending the right tools to serve clients' needs."
