CD review : Tom Mc Rae All Maps Welcome (Sony) Rating.

Byline: WITH CHRIS BROWN

RIGHT, this is the fourth time I've listened to this album now and every time I end up wandering off and doing something else without realising it. I'm actually trying to pay attention, and I am struggling. Indie/folk pop, nearly whispering, despairing lyrics - it could be brilliant and heartrending, but I just can't get into it. It sounds like a man whingeing in the corner of a party after too much straight whisky.

I have even tried turning it up full blast in an attempt to get, if not myself, then somebody to pay attention, but with no luck. All I want to do now is shake him a bit and shout: ' Stop your whining, man, and pull yourself together
