CCTV clue to shooting in front of girl, 7.

DETECTIVES investigating an attempted murder that took place in front of a seven-year-old child have released CCTV footage of people they say they want to trace.

Harrowing video shows the moment a man was walking hand-in-hand with his young daughter before being shot on the Beechwood estate, in Prenton, on February 7. The youngster witnessed the entire attack as the victim was first blasted in the leg and then shot again at point-blank range.

Merseyside Police are appealing for information that could help the investigation.

Detective Inspector Tracey Martin told BBC Crimewatch: "We have some CCTV which shows a dark colour Skoda Superb travelling along Fifth Avenue, towards Fender Way.

"The vehicle then stops outside a property; as it does so, our victim leaves an address with his seven-year-old daughter.

"They walk hand-in-hand down the path, through the gate and onto the pavement.

"As they do so, the suspect gets out of the rear of the vehicle. He approaches the victim, shoots him in the leg to which he falls on the floor, he then shoots him again at point blank range."

She added: "This all happened in front of his seven-year-old daughter.

"Fortunately, the victim and his daughter are both OK, but we've got to think of the impact it had on his daughter. Whoever did this callous attack in front of a sevenyear-old child who has to live with that now for the rest of her life.

"If you have any information, you can call Crimewatch on 08000 468 999 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111."
