CBSE affiliation for Bhavan's school.

India's Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has granted affiliation to Doha's Bhavan's Public School (BhPS).

The BhPS becomes the eighth Indian expatriate school in Qatar to receive the CBSE affiliation.

The CBSE is a national board of education, under the Indian government. More than 11,000 schools, spread over 21 countries are affiliated to the CBSE.

BhPS is managed by Al Misnad Education Centre, which is under the chairmanship of well-known entrepreneur C K Menon.

The school started functioning on May 14, 2010 with 34 students.

Presently it has 1,100 students in classes from lower kindergarten to Class 8.

The school has two campuses - the KG wing is in Al Wakrah and Class 1 to 8 in Matar Qadeem .

The school will start Plus 2 level in 2014-15, officials said.

CMC team leaves for

Singapore

A delegation of the Central Municipal Council (CMC) left Doha on Saturday for Singapore on an invitation from that country's Minister of State for National Development Tan Chuan Jin.

The CMC delegation, headed by chairman Suad al-Khinzab, will exchange experiences in the fields of municipal affairs. It would study Singapore's experience in the implementation of construction and infrastructure projects. Other issues would include urban planning, public cleaning projects and accommodation services.

The delegation would also study modern technologies used in Singapore for sanitary drainage solutions. These include treating waste water and recycling it through underground networks. The use and preservation of pure sweet water is also among the main topics of interest during the visit.

The team would study the Singaporean experiences on the economic usage of water in to promote green areas in the country.
