CBS INC. AND VIACOM INTERNATIONAL INC. SETTLE LONGSTANDING LAWSUIT

 NEW YORK, July 30 /PRNewswire/ -- CBS Inc. (NYSE: CBS) announced today that it has concluded a settlement with Viacom International Inc. which resolves all pending litigation between them. Under the settlement, Viacom paid CBS a lump sum, a portion of which constitutes payment for rights granted to Viacom to distribute certain television programs owned by CBS in the United States and abroad. On a post tax basis, CBS estimates that this one-time settlement payment will increase its 1993 third quarter earnings by approximately $1.15 per share.
