CBR food department imposed over Rs two million fines during 2017.

Rawalpindi -- Food department of Cantonment Board Rawalpindi (CBR) has imposed 2076700 rupees fines in 681 cases round the year while 1040 cases were under hearing.

The Department sent 6008 samples to laboratories for checking and 1721 food samples found substandard and injurious to health after examination.

Sources told that total 6008 samples of eatables were to laboratories and the department received 5190 reports of samples verifying 1721 samples as substandard and unhygienic.

The department during the year 2017 issued 1037 notices to different food outlets across the city over not maintaining the standard of cleanliness. The court of Magistrate imposed 400700 rupees fines over these issued notices.

During surprise visits, food inspectors imposed more than 2. 4 million rupees fines on dirtiness and selling substandard eatables, likewise, food department totally inflicted more than 4. 9 million rupees fines to shopkeepers during 2017.
