CBB issues memorial coin, silver medallion.

Manama: March 26 -- (BNA): The Central Bank of Bahrain (CBB) has issued a metal coin and silver medallion marking the tenth anniversary of the Bahrain Grand Prix for Formula One slated to be hosted in the Kingdom of Bahrain on April 4,5 and 6.

The CBB has minted a 100 fils denomination coin. The coin on one obverse bears the image of Sakhir VIPs' Tower at the Bahrain International Circuit (BIC). On the margin of the coin bears the inscription "Kingdom of Bahrain", "Bahrain Grand Prix" and dated 2004-2014 in English.

The reverse of the coin is inscribed "100 fils". The memorial coin has been minted in the same weight and size of the currently circulating 100 fils coin, weighs 6 grams, 24 millimeters in diameter and 1.9 mm in thickness. 31,000 pieces of this metallic coin have been minted and enveloped in aesthetic cover for distribution during the festivities of the Bahrain International Circuit, the "home of motorsport in the Middle East".

The memorial medallion features the following specifications: Metal: silver with gold-plated frame. Weight: 31 grams. Diameter: 36 mm. Purity: 99.9%. Thickness: 2 mm. Shape: Circular. Quantity: 1500 medallions. The obverse of the medallion bears the Kingdom of Bahrain's logo. The reverse bears the finishing line of the race and inscribed "Kingdom of Bahrain" in both Arabic and English. The reverse of the medallion shows the picture of BIC Tower and inscribed "Bahrain International Circuit", "10 Years Anniversary" 2004-2014 also in Arabic and English. The medallion is enveloped in deluxe package. The silver medallion is on sale as from Sunday 30 March 2014 at the Currency Issuance Department in the Central Bank of Bahrain.
