CAUTION GNOMES AT WORK; Mystery as tiny figures appear at road works.
A MYSTERY group of little people have set up "gnome" at the side of a country road.
The colourful figures appeared near traffic lights on roadworks on the A470 at Gelli Gemlyn, Ganllwyd, Dolgellau.
Gwynedd councillor Louise Hughes, who noticed them on Saturday, said: "My daughter Elys, 10, was howling with laughter.
"We saw a little paddling pool and some gnomes in swimming costumes. There were others on their skis, playing badminton and golf. There were gnomes fishing too.
"It just cheers you up while you're stuck in traffic."
Derek Nephi-Williams of the Ty'n-y-Groes Hotel said: "It's a mystery. They've appeared overnight. I think it's the contractors at the roadworks who have finished doing the work or some bright young lads. Somebody had put some teddies there previously for a teddy bear's picnic but it wasn't as big as this."
The gnomes were caught on camera by Erfyl Lloyd Davies who said: "It's a little bit of humour when you've stopped at the traffic lights and you look up and see the gnomes.
"Somebody has obviously gone to a lot of trouble."
The gnomes are arranged in a series of activities from swimming to fishing on the side of the A470 at Gelli Gemlyn, near Ganllwyd
