CASINO MAGIC TO DEVELOP DESTINATION RESORT COMPLEX ON MISSISSIPPI GULF COAST

BAY SAINT LOUIS, Miss., April 29 /PRNewswire/ -- Casino Magic Corp. (NASDAQ-NMS: CMAG) said today that it will develop a 750-room resort hotel and entertainment complex in connection with its existing casino in Bay Saint Louis. Construction is expected to begin in June, subject to final financing arrangements. Initial occupancy of the resort hotel is scheduled for summer 1994.
Casino Magic is also in the final stages of negotiations with the Arnold Palmer Design and Management Company for design of Casino Magic's 27-hole championship golf course and 18-hole putting course adjacent to the casino and resort hotel. An Arnold Palmer Golf Academy is planned as part of the Casino Magic Golf Course, which should be ready for play in 1995.
Marlin F. Torguson, president and chief executive officer of Casino Magic, said, "With these new and significant business strategies, we are taking a major step forward in the development of Casino Magic as the premier entertainment destination on the Gulf Coast. Casino Magic is already the largest dockside casino development in the United States, and when our destination resort is completed we will also operate one of the largest resort hotels between Atlanta and Houston."
Torguson said that current plans call for 694 double rooms and 56 suites in the 11-story resort hotel. The resort hotel is anticipated to include meeting and conference space, indoor and outdoor swimming pools, a health club, extensive restaurant and cocktail lounge facilities, and retail space for up to 10 shops. An entertainment center with 3,000 to 4,000 seats to accommodate major Casino Magic special events, such as boxing, concerts and shows, is also planned to be part of the destination resort complex.
"We have conducted extensive marketing studies that fully support the scope and timing of this ambitious project," Torguson said. "Our existing facility is already attracting customers from throughout the country, and this major expansion is a logical and tremendously positive next step in our growth at the Bay Saint Louis location."
Casino Magic is also developing a new casino in Biloxi, Miss., which is scheduled to open in late May.
Casino Magic Corp., a Minnesota corporation, has its principal offices in Bay Saint Louis, and operates gaming casinos in Bay Saint Louis, and Deadwood, S.D.
