CASINO DATA SYSTEMS REPORTS RECORD EARNINGS

 LAS VEGAS, Oct. 20 /PRNewswire/ -- Casino Data Systems (NASDAQ: CSDS) today reported significant financial results for the third quarter ended Sept. 30, 1993. Net revenues increased 44 percent over revenues for the second quarter, while net income for the third quarter increased 63 percent over the previous quarter. The Las Vegas- based company is a leading supplier to the gaming industry of electronic slot accounting and player tracking systems.
 Earnings per share for the third quarter were $.23, compared to $.14 in the prior quarter and a loss of $.03 for the third quarter of 1992. Earnings per share for the first nine months of 1993 are $.47, compared to $.01 for the comparable period of 1992.
 Third quarter activity included an expansion of Casino Data Systems' Las Vegas floorspace from 8,000 to 16,000 square feet and a 50 percent increase in its staff of engineers, technicians and other specialists.
 Three major contracts for slot accounting and player tracking installations were announced during the quarter. A total of seven contracts are currently in progress or pending casino development. Also, Nevada gaming regulators gave Casino Data Systems final approval of its multisite linked progressive slot system.
 Third quarter total net revenue was $3,362,407, compared to $2,346,269 in the second quarter, and up substantially over the $58,804 earned in the third quarter of 1992. Third quarter net income was $1,056,636, compared to $648,551 in the second quarter 1993, and up from a loss of $146,856 in the same quarter of 1992. Per share information for the comparable periods are restated to reflect the present number of shares outstanding,
 Total net income rose to $2,188,416 in the first nine months, up from $69,434 in the third quarter of 1992. Total net revenue was $7,334,961, compared to $985,859 in the same period of 1992. Currently, total assets are $7,273,357 and the company has no long-term debt.
 Casino Data Systems was founded by Steven A. Weiss, president, in June 1990 and expanded in November 1991 to include CEO/CFO Lowell A. Hansen, and G. Jack Kiland, vice president of sales and marketing. Russell C. Mix is vice president of administration and general counsel, while Lyle Berman and William M. Mower serve as directors of the company with Weiss, Hansen and Kiland.
