CARTER HAWLEY HALE REPORTS FEBRUARY SALES

 LOS ANGELES, March 4 /PRNewswire/ -- Carter Hawley Hale Stores Inc. (NYSE: CHH) today reported sales of $126.5 million for the four weeks ended Feb. 27, 1993, a 3.1 percent decrease from the $130.6 million recorded in the prior-year period. On a comparable stores basis, sales decreased 0.3 percent in February.
 Last year's total sales include five additional stores which have subsequently been sold or closed.
 Carter Hawley Hale Stores Inc., operates 83 department stores in the western United States under the names of The Broadway, The Broadway Southwest, Emporium and Weinstocks.
