CARR CHARGED WITH FIDDLING HER BENEFITS.

Byline: AIDAN McGURRAN

MAXINE Carr was yesterday accused lying about her qualifications when she applied for her job at Soham primary school.

The former assistant at the school attended by murdered Holly Wells and Jessica Chapman was also charged benefit fraud.

Carr, 26, now faces five charges over job applications and seven of fiddling benefit.

The Crown Prosecution Service said the alleged offences took place between 1996 and 2002.

A spokesman added: "Two charges relate to statements made on her application for posts at St Andrew's School in Soham."

One involves Carr's application to work as a temporary general assistant at St Andrew's in April 2002. A second alleges she dishonestly tried in the same way to get a job as a permanent assistant at the school in July 2002.

Carr is also charged with trying to obtain pecuniary advantage by falsely representing qualifications to Bhs in Scunthorpe in 2001, to the One Stop Shop in Soham in 2002 and to Grimsby seafood firm Bluecrest in 1996.

The benefit fraud charges are alleged to have been committed in Scunthorpe. Four relate to housing benefit.

Carr is alleged to have obtained or tried to obtain pounds 375 through dishonest claims.

Two further charges relate to income-support claims and a seventh to a job-seeker's allowance claim. Carr is due in court in Peterborough on March 26.
