CARPENTER TECHNOLOGY ELECTS TWO NEW DIRECTORS

 READING, Pa., June 23 /PRNewswire/ -- Carpenter Technology Corporation (NYSE: CRS) has elected two new members to its board of directors.
 They are:
 Mylle H. Bell, executive vice president, Strategic Management, Holiday Inn Worldwide, and
 Marcus C. Bennett, vice president and chief financial officer of Martin Marietta Corporation.
 Bell, 44, joined Holiday Inn Worldwide, in Atlanta, last year. She is responsible for developing corporate global strategy and investment. Bell is a member of Holiday Inn Worldwide's board of directors and executive committee.
 Bell came to Holiday Inn from BellSouth Corporation, where she spent six years as director, Corporate Planning and Development, and as president of BellSouth International. From 1972-1985, Bell served in a variety of information systems, manufacturing management, and sales and marketing management positions at General Electric Company.
 She holds a bachelor's degree in psychology and education from Emory University.
 Bennett, 57, has served as chief financial officer of Martin Marietta since 1988 and earlier this year was elected to the board of directors. He joined Martin Marietta in 1959 as an industrial engineer at the company's Orlando, Fla., aerospace organization, then served in various contracts management and financial management positions.
 In 1976 Bennett moved to the corporation's headquarters in Bethesda, Md., as controller and treasurer of the Aerospace Company. Subsequently, he was named vice president, Finance, and vice president, Business Management. In 1983, Bennett was appointed chairman of International Laser Systems and to the board of International Light Metals Corporation, both former majority-owned subsidiaries of Martin Marietta. He was elected corporation vice president, Finance, in 1984.
 Bennett holds a bachelor's degree in industrial management from Georgia Institute of Technology.
 Carpenter Technology, based in Reading, manufactures and markets specialty metals in long-product form (bar, rod, wire, strip, billet). In fiscal year 1992, the company had sales of $570.2 million.
