CARNIVAL SETS SECOND RESERVATIONS RECORD IN SINGLE WEEK
MIAMI, Jan. 13 /PRNewswire/ -- After booking a record 25,000 passengers during the two-day period Jan. 6-7, Carnival Cruise Lines ended the week by eclipsing yet another record, with passengers booked Jan. 6-12 totaling 65,000, the most ever in a single week.
The days of Jan. 6, 7 and 8 on their own represent the three busiest days in the company's history, and by early afternoon, Thursday, Jan. 9, Carnival had exceeded its previous one-week record of 46,200 passengers booked the week of Nov. 4-10, 1991.
"The pace at which we were setting and breaking records here last week was exhilarating," said Bob Dickinson, Carnival's senior vice president of sales and marketing. "But what's more important is that it indicates consumers are getting the message on cruising's value. They're not only booking cruise vacations despite a weak economy, but booking in record numbers," he said. "Those travel agents who still aren't delivering that message are short-changing themselves and their clients," Dickinson added.
