CARNIVAL CRUISE LINES 1992 WINTER CRUISES DEALS AT 1982 PRICES

CARNIVAL CRUISE LINES 1992 WINTER CRUISES DEALS AT 1982 PRICES
MIAMI, Nov. 20 /PRNewswire/ -- There aren't many things these days going down in price, but for those who are willing to do some advance planning and arrange their cruise vacations early, they can buy a 1992 winter cruise at 1982 prices.
Cruise industry executives point to the effects of the lingering recession combined with an unprecedented number of new ships introduced over the last 18 months as the cause for heavy discounting.
Bob Dickinson, Carnival Cruise Lines' senior vice president of sales and marketing, says the key to getting a great deal on a cruise vacation this winter is to act now before prices begin returning to normal. "There is a great deal of winter cruise inventory still available, but as that begins to fill, prices will gradually start rising," he explained.
For instance, Carnival is offering special rates on a variety of cruises if you book before Dec. 31, 1991. Seven-day Caribbean cruises departing Miami and San Juan are available for $759 per person and four-day Bahamas cruises from Port Canaveral for $599. These prices include round-trip air from most cities east of the Rockies. For those west of the Rockies, $599 will buy a seven-day cruise to the Mexican Riviera from Los Angeles (air not included).
In addition, two passengers can cruise for the price of one on three- and four-day Bahamas cruises. With this special offer, the per person cost for a three-day cruise is as low as $195, and as low as $260 for a four-day cruise (air not included).
"By offering this incentive to book early, we're also hoping to quell the trend of last minute booking," said Dickinson. "As a result, these are some of the lowest cruise fares in the past 10 years years."
These special offers are available on sailings now through late March 1992. Seven-day cruises from Miami are aboard the Holiday and Celebration, from San Juan on the Festivale and Tropicale, and from Los Angeles on the Jubilee. Three- and four-day cruises from Port Canaveral are aboard the Carnivale and Mardi Gras.
