CARNIVAL CRUISE LINES' NEW SUPERLINER SENSATION MAKES FIRST ARRIVAL AT PORT OF MIAMI

MIAMI, Nov. 7 /PRNewswire/ -- The world's newest cruise ship, Carnival Cruise Lines' (NYSE: CCL) $300-million SuperLiner Sensation arrived today at its new home, Port of Miami, escorted by sister- SuperLiner Ecstasy. Sensation's debut marks the third in a series of five 2,600-passenger SuperLiners for the Carnival fleet, representing a total investment "package" of $1.45 billion, which commenced with the Fantasy in 1990 and the Ecstasy in 1991.
The 70,000-gross-registered-ton Sensation embarked Saturday, Oct. 23 from its Finnish shipyard, where two additional vessels are under construction. Fascination is slated for completion in 1994 while the fifth ship, Imagination, is due for delivery in 1995.
Sensation's innovative interior features unparalleled special effects and sensory-themed designs. The use of computer-controlled ultraviolet lighting, streams of color-changing neon, concealed fluorescent patterns and imaginative artwork are incorporated into Sensation's distinctive architecture -- which is enhanced by the unusual dimension of three different sound zones.
During its two-week inaugural stay at Port of Miami, the ship is to host more than 10,000 travel industry guests, dignitaries and media at invitation-only events. On Nov. 13, four of Carnival's highest ranking female officials -- representing the company's 11,000 employees -- will serve as godmothers as they perform the official naming of the Sensation.
The Sensation is slated to begin service Nov. 21 from Port of Miami, offering seven-day cruises alternating weekly between the Eastern and Western Caribbean.
