CARLA HILLS ELECTED TO CHEVRON CORP. BOARD OF DIRECTORS

 SAN FRANCISCO, March 31 /PRNewswire/ -- Carla A. Hills today was elected a director of Chevron Corporation (NYSE: CHV), Chairman and CEO Ken Derr announced.
 Hills, who is Chairman of Hills & Company, served in the Cabinet of President Bush as U.S. Trade Representative from 1989 to 1993.
 She rejoins the board of Chevron, where she served as a director from 1977 through 1988 before joining the Bush Administration.
 "Chevron is very fortunate to have a person of such wide talents and diverse experience return to its Board," said Chairman and CEO Ken Derr. "During Ambassador Hills' prior service as a director, she made many outstanding contributions to the Board and management, and I'm confident that she will again serve the interests of our stockholders with distinction."
 Hills earlier was a co-managing partner in the law firm of Weil, Gotshal & Manges. She also served as Secretary of Housing and Urban Development in the Ford Administration from 1975 to 1977, and was Assistant Attorney General, Civil Division, in the U.S. Department of Justice in 1974 and 1975.
 Hills earned her bachelor's degree from Stanford University, her law degree from Yale University and studied at Oxford University. She later was adjunct professor at the University of California at Los Angeles Law School, teaching antitrust law.
 Hills is a director of Bechtel Enterprises Inc., and Bechtel Group Inc.
