CAREMARK ANNOUNCES LETTER OF INTENT TO MANAGE OKLAHOMA CITY CLINIC

NORTHBROOK, Ill., June 10 /PRNewswire/ -- Caremark International (NYSE: CK) announced today that it has signed a letter of intent to enter into a long-term management agreement with The Oklahoma City Clinic. Under the planned agreement, Caremark will acquire certain assets of the clinic and provide patient administrative services; facilities, financial and information management; and marketing.
It is expected that a final agreement will be completed within 90 days.
The Oklahoma City Clinic was founded in 1919 and is today the largest private multi-specialty group physicians' practice in the state. The clinic includes more than 100 physicians, of whom about half are primary care physicians, and some 500 non-physician employees at seven sites serving an active patient population of 150,000. Almost half of these patients are referred through managed care organizations such as HMOs under pre-paid plans.
Caremark is a leading provider of alternate site health care services, delivering home infusion, HIV/AIDS care, cancer treatments, women's health programs, hemophilia and immune therapies, and physical therapy in non-hospital settings. Caremark also provides prescription drug benefit and physician practice management services. The company had 1992 sales of $1.46 billion.
