CAPTAIN ALBERTO ABED NAMED CHAIRMAN OF TAESA AIRLINES; NEW LEADERSHIP TEAM IS POISED FOR INTERNATIONAL GROWTH

 MEXICO CITY, April 20 /PRNewswire/ -- Captain Alberto Abed, president, TAESA Airlines, accepted an offer of an additional block of stock which will give him controlling interest of the airline. The offer was made by Carlos Hank Rhon, former chairman of the board and chairman of the Hermes Group at a recent meeting of the board.
 "I am pleased to be at the forefront of continued growth for TAESA. Together with my brother, Captain Miguel Abed and the TAESA team of aviation experts, we will continue to provide expanded service to both national and international business travelers as well as tourists, said Captain Abed.
 Under the direction of Captain Abed, the airline is expected to step up TAESA's plan for growth, both in tourism and commercial section of the business.
 The restructuring has already begun with the sale of five Boeing 727-100's to a South American Airline. These aircraft will be replaced with the Boeing 737-300's and the Boeing 767-300 ER currently under negotiation with GPA. The new aircraft are more modern, efficient and practical for long range charter flights. The updated TAESA fleet will remain the largest in Latin America.
 TAESA airlines was started three years ago by Captain Abed and Carlos Hank Rhon. In the past 14 months, it has penetrated the charter markets in Europe, the United States, Canada and the Caribbean with ional travelers the finest in service at competitive prices.
