CAPITAL HOLDING CORPORATION NAMES LEE ADREAN PRESIDENT OF ITS AGENCY GROUP; ROBERT WALKER AS CFO

 LOUISVILLE, Ky., Aug. 5 /PRNewswire/ --- Capital Holding Corporation (NYSE: CPH) named Lee Adrean, formerly senior vice president - planning and finance and the corporation's chief financial officer, as president and chief executive officer of its Agency Group. He succeeds David Sams who was recruited to become chief executive officer of Connecticut Mutual.
 Succeeding Adrean as senior vice president and chief financial officer is Robert L. Walker. He had formerly been vice president and general counsel. Walker will also join the corporation's seven-member Operating and Policy Committee. Irving W. Bailey II, Capital Holding's chairman, president and chief executive officer, said: "Lee has contributed measurably to our strategic direction over the past several years. Through his background in strategic planning and finance with the corporation, as well as his work in support of Agency Group acquisitions, he has gained a detailed understanding of what we need to execute Agency Group's strategies.
 "In Bob Walker we have an executive who combines insightful business perspective with expertise in law, corporate tax and finance. These appointments demonstrate that we have the depth and variety of management skills within our organization that can be called upon as the needs of our organization evolve," Bailey said.
 Strategic planning and corporate development, which had formerly reported to Adrean, will report directly to Bailey. The Law Department will continue to report to Walker until a new general counsel is named.
 Adrean, 41, joined Capital Holding in 1990 as senior vice president - strategic planning and corporate development and became senior vice president - planning and finance and chief financial officer the following year. Prior to joining Capital Holding he had been a vice president with Bain & Co. in Boston where he consulted with a broad range of clients in the financial services industry. He holds a bachelors degree in accounting from Bucknell University where he was a member of Phi Beta Kappa. He earned his MBA from Harvard Business School where he was a Baker Scholar.
 Walker, 42, joined Capital Holding in 1988 as vice president - corporate tax after 13 years with The Mead Corporation where he served in a series of increasingly responsible positions in tax research and planning. He was named vice president and general counsel for Capital Holding in 1991. He earned a bachelor of arts degree, with distinction, in economics from Transylvania University and received his law degree from the University of Kentucky.
