CANDY'S TORTILLA FACTORY ANNOUNCES IT WILL NO LONGER
BE A SUPPLIER TO TACO BELL
PUEBLO, Colo., Sept. 15 /PRNewswire/ -- Candy's Tortilla Factory Inc. (NASDAQ: CNDY) today announced that effective immediately, Taco Bell has reassigned its Denver distribution center to another supplier and as a result Candy's will no longer be a supplier to Taco Bell. This loss of Taco Bell business will result in a decrease in annualized revenues of approximately $4.7 million. This Taco Bell business formerly accounted for approximately 12 percent of Candy's annual revenues.
This latest reduction of business with Taco Bell, along with the previous announcement where Candy's resigned a portion of Taco Bell business and Taco Bell reassigned a portion of its business to another supplier, accounted for a total of approximately 27 percent of Candy's annualized revenues which represent approximately $10.8 million.
Candy's will now focus its entire attention on its business with retail and foodservice customers where the company has its greatest investment in marketing programs and personnel. This change will also eliminate the need for outside co-packers of products Candy's is able to produce.
Based in Pueblo, Candy's Tortilla Factory manufactures, markets and distributes a premium quality line of flour and corn tortillas, taco shells and tortilla chips, packaged and marketed under its own labels and various private labels to the retail, institutional and foodservice markets. Retail customers include Safeway, Kroger and Albertson's. Foodservice customers include Kraft, McDonald's, Lady Baltimore and Sysco.
