CANAAN VALLEY WRAPS UP LONGEST SKI SEASON EVER APRIL 6
CANAAN VALLEY, W.Va., April 2 /PRNewswire/ -- Canaan Valley Resort & Conference Center will reluctantly end the longest ski season in the history of the resort on Monday, April 6, with the annual closure of its mountain ski facilities and 21 slopes, Herb Faulkenberry, the resort's director of sales and marketing, announced today.
"We've had a terrific winter, with Canaan Valley receiving more than 150 inches of natural snow in '91-'92, compared to 113 inches in '90-'91 and 117 inches in '89-'90," Faulkenberry said. "Canaan Valley had fantastic skiing this season, while nationally, it was one of the warmest winters on record."
The April 6 close of its ski facilities is about two weeks later than closings in previous years, Faulkenberry said.
"Historically, Canaan Valley's ski season concludes around the third week of March," Faulkenberry said. "But this year we elected to remain open because of the high quality of snow and customer interest."
The 6,015-acre recreational resort park in the Allegheny Mountains is open year-round and includes a 250-room hotel and conference center, 15 deluxe cabins, championship golf course and campground. Rooms at the resort range from $66 to $73 per night, double occupancy. Each additional adult per room is $6, while children 12 and under stay free if occupying the same room as a paying adult. Maximum occupancy is four persons per room.
