CAMPBELL SOUP DEDICATES NEW ARGENTINA PLANT

CAMDEN, N.J., Aug. 27 /PRNewswire/ -- Campbell Soup Company (NYSE: CPB) today dedicated a new $120 million beef processing plant in Rosario, Argentina.
Argentina's President, Carlos Saul Menem, hailed the plant as a symbol of Argentina's "economic miracle." Campbell President David W. Johnson said the facility was "the most advanced plant of its kind in the world," and that its state-of-the-art technology made possible a new level of high quality beef processing. He noted that a U.S. Department of Agriculture official called the plant "a model for all beef processing plants around the world."
The plant, which is operated by Campbell's Swift-Armour S.A. Argentina subsidiary, produces canned beef products for sale in Argentina and export to some 60 countries around the world. Its products carry the "Swift," "Exeter," and "Plate" brands.
The new plant employs 1,800 people and replaces an existing plant nearby.
