CAMPBELL EXECUTIVE CHAIRS ADVERTISING COUNCIL

 CAMPBELL EXECUTIVE CHAIRS ADVERTISING COUNCIL
 CAMDEN, N.J., June 16 /PRNewswire -- Identifying new, effective

ways of reaching the public and taking a fresh look at media are critical for a successful Advertising Council of the 90s, Herbert M. Baum, president of Campbell North and South America, told communications executives last week in New York.
"Our country needs effective Ad Council programs," said Baum in his acceptance speech as incoming chairman of the council. "Ever since World War II, when the survival of the western civilization was on the line, the Ad Council has demonstrated the ability to make a difference. Today, the challenges are different, but the need to make a difference is still what keeps us going."
"We will find new ways to focus on what we do best: communicating messages that save lives, improve health, strengthen education and protect the environment...in short, our job has been to raise the quality of life for countless Americans. The Ad Council will help build a stronger, more cohesive society by conveying messages that are essential to our collective well-being," said Baum.
Baum, a former advertising agency executive, has been a director of the Ad Council since 1986 and a vice chairman for the past three years. As chairman, he will lead the private, non-profit organization of volunteers from the communications industries who conduct advertising campaigns for the public good. The Ad Council is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year.
