CAMPAIGN '96 SPOTLIGHT.

The 43rd Assembly District seat is being vacated by Republican James Rogan, who is leaving to run for Congress. Here are brief biographical sketches and comments from the 10 candidates in the March 26 election on why is is runing and what the constituents of the district need.

Sheldon Baker

Age: 59

Occupation: tax lawyer; founding partner of Glendale-based Baker, Olson, LeCroy & Danielian.

Education: Bachelor's degree, Political Science, from Rutgers; law degree from Stanford.

Previous elected office: Glendale City Council, 1993-Present; Glendale School Board, 1965-1981.

Primary residence: Glendale

Family: Married with three children.

Contributions as of Feb. 15: $77,487

"The strategy is to reduce government regulations and taxes to stimulate the economy, attract businesses and create jobs. Government focus should be on safety in our homes and neighborhoods, strict enforcement of penalties and keeping habitual offenders behind bars, not restraining business."

Pete Musurlian

Age: 34

Occupation: Chief Deputy to Rep.

Carlos Moorhead, R-Glendale.

Education: Bachelor's degree in political science/broadcast journalism from USC; master's degrees from Baylor University in political science, and from American University in journalism and public affairs.

Primary residence: Glendale

Family: Single

John Geranios

Age: 33

Occupation: owner of Educational Assistance, a Burbank-based college planning center; business department chair at Mount St. Marys' College.

Education: Bachelors degree in political science and psychology from UC-Berkeley; MBA from Georgetown; doctorate in policy and organization from USC.

"I'm angry at what I see happening in the state of California. I believe we need to have non-politicians who can bring some common sense to government. I think the system is fundamentally broken."

James C. Regan Age: 48

Occupation: Lawyer

"I think its a great opportunity for a conservative oriented, pro-family, pro-business candidate to get results. "(Constituents need) economic health, less government cost, less interference with business, less taxes and more freedom for entreprenuers."

Peter Repovich

Age: 38

Occupation: LAPD officer

Education: Bachelor's of science in business administration from USC

Craig Missakian
