CALLAWAY GOLF COMPANY SIGNS FOUR-YEAR ENDORSEMENT AGREEMENT WITH PGA CHAMPION PAUL AZINGER

 CARLSBAD, Calif., Dec. 8 /PRNewswire/ -- Callaway Golf Company (NYSE: ELY) has entered into a four-year agreement with Paul Azinger under which he will endorse exclusively Callaway's Big Bertha(R) Metal Woods and certain other Callaway clubs to be identified later, according to Don Dye, president, and Ely Callaway, chairman of the company.
 Callaway plans a series of new nationwide television commercials featuring Azinger on ABC-TV during the Three-Tour Challenge broadcast, Dec. 25-26, 1993, according to Dye.
 Mr. Callaway stated, "We are proud, pleased, and encouraged by this close association with one of the world's truly great golfers. We look forward to enjoying this relationship and feel greatly rewarded by Paul's conviction that our golf clubs can help his career."
 In response to the announcement that Azinger will undergo treatment for a lymphoma condition in his right shoulder blade, Mr. Callaway stated, "We wish our good friend and great champion Paul Azinger a complete and speedy recovery. We feel confident that this fine young gentleman will be able to resume his competitive career on the schedule outlined by his doctors. In any event we will continue to have great respect and affection for him personally, and we will continue to nurture our business and professional relationship." Additionally, Callaway Golf Company is making a donation of $25,000 to the American Cancer Society in Azinger's name.
