CALIFORNIA ENERGY ESTABLISHES INTERNATIONAL SUBSIDIARY

 OMAHA, Neb., Sept. 7 /PRNewswire/ -- California Energy Company, Inc. (NYSE, PSE and LSE Symbol: CE) announced today the establishment of a subsidiary company to manage its offshore project development and operations activities. The new company, CE International, will be headquartered in Omaha, and will initially locate a regional office in Singapore.
 Donald M. O'Shei, Sr., currently Vice President of California Energy Company, Inc. has been appointed President of CE International. Prior to joining California Energy in 1988, he was President of AWD Technologies, Inc. Previously he was associated with the Guy F. Atkinson Co. and the United States Army from which he retired as a Brigadier General.
 David L. Sokol, President and Chief Executive Officer of CE, stated, "This new structure is indicative of the emphasis California Energy is placing on our participation in the emerging international market for private power."
 California Energy Company develops environmentally responsible power generating facilities. Its five operating facilities currently produce in excess of 250 new megawatts.
