CALGENE AND UNILEVER SIGN OILS AGREEMENT

 DAVIS, Calif., Nov. 18 ~PRNewswire~ -- Calgene Inc. (NASDAQ: CGNE) has entered into an agreement with Unilever (NYSE: UN) for joint applied research concerning canola oil varieties. The project will deal with improving the properties in vegetable raw materials, such as those relating to melting behavior and with improving the efficiency of processing operations.
 Calgene, an American agribusiness biotechnological company, is the first company to have reported the successful application of new biotechnological techniques to modify the composition of oils in oilseed crops. Unilever is a leading international consumer products company with worldwide sales of more than $40 billion.
