CAE-LINK AND STAR TECHNOLOGIES JOIN FORCES FOR ARMY CCTT
STERLING, Va., Jan. 28 /PRNewswire/ -- CAE-Link Corporation and Star Technologies, Inc. (NASDAQ: STRR) today announced an agreement to jointly bid for the U.S. Army's Close Combat Tactical Trainer (CCTT) program.
The CCTT is a networked simulation system which will allow armor units and mechanized infantry to conduct tactical maneuver training in a combined arms virtual combat environment. Multiple simulators replicating combat vehicles, weapon systems and command/control elements will interact in real-time along with opposing semi-automated forces (SAFORS) on a computer-generated battlefield.
The CCTT is the first element of the Army's new Combined Arms Tactical Training (CATT) family, the largest of the training mission initiatives being developed by the Project Manager for Training Devices (PM TRADE), Orlando, Fla. Other elements will be the Aviation Combined Arms Tactical Trainer (AVCATT), Air Defense Combined Arms Tactical Trainer (ADCATT), and Engineer Combined Arms Tactical Trainer (ENCATT).
As the CCTT prime bidder, CAE-Link will provide simulation system design, manufacturing, networking and SAFORS; Star Technologies will provide computer image generators for simulated visual and sensor imagery.
CAE-Link is America's standard of excellence in simulation technology and training services for the U.S. military, international forces and NASA. It is at the forefront of networked, collective training with such programs as the Army Training Battle Aviation System (ARTBASS), Project Desert STAARS (Sustainment Training for Army Aviation Readiness through Simulation), Force Level Simulation, MultiSim and the Combat Service Support Training Simulation System (CSSTSS).
Star Technologies is a leading manufacturer of high-performance computing products, including image generators, array processors and compute servers. Star's Graphicon 2000 (G2000) image generators lead the industry in price/performance and flexibility for a broad variety of visual simulation, training and research applications. The G2000 has recently been selected for the U.S. Army's Advanced Distributed Simulation Technology (ADST) program, a development program administered by PM TRADE for simulation technology related to the CATT family of networked simulators. The G2000 has also been selected by the U.S. Navy for its Visual System Upgrade Program for the SH-2F and SH-60B/F helicopters. Other G2000 customers include Luke Air Force Base, Grumman, McDonnell Douglas, Technology Service Corp., Alenia, and the Federal Highway Administration.
"We analyzed the image generator products on the market against the Army's need for high-fidelity battlefield imagery at a low life-cycle cost," said CAE-Link President George Houser. "Star's product is clearly superior, it's ready to operate off the shelf, and its architecture is flexible for future upgrades without extensive hardware changes."
Star Technologies President Robert C. Compton said, "We're delighted to be teamed with the simulation and training industry leader. CAE-Link's tactical and networking expertise, excellent track record with the Army, as well as its simulator fabrication capabilities are unmatched."
