CADWALADER, WICKERSHAM & TAFT NAMES GERSTEIN AS PARTNER

 NEW YORK, Oct. 12 /PRNewswire/ -- Kenneth S. Gerstein has been elected partner in the law firm of Cadwalader, Wickersham & Taft, effective Oct. 1, 1993. The announcement was made today by Rodney S. Dayan, presiding partner of the firm.
 Prior to joining Cadwalader, Mr. Gerstein was a partner for 10 years in the New York law firm of Gordon Altman Butowsky Weitzen Shalov & Wein. Previous to that association, he held the position of special counsel in the SEC's Division of Investment Management in Washington D.C.
 Mr. Gerstein will practice in Cadwalader's New York office. His corporate practice is focused on mutual funds, closed-end investment companies, and other types of pooled investment products, including bank funds, collective investment trusts and offshore funds.
 His practice will also involve counseling banks, investment advisers, securities firms and other organizations that offer investment management, brokerage, securities custody, transfer agent, and other investment services.
 Mr. Gerstein holds law degrees from Temple University School of Law (J.D.) and Georgetown University Law Center (L.L.M.). He is a member of the American Bar Association's Committee on the Federal Regulation of Securities and its Subcommittee on Investment Companies and Investment Advisers.
 Cadwalader, Wickersham & Taft celebrated the bicentennial of its founding last year. More than 300 lawyers practice with the firm at its offices in New York, Washington, Los Angeles and Palm Beach, Fla.
