SANGH leaders have been preparing the cadre for a change in the top rung. " We have been told about the impending change with the rider that it is a routine affair and nothing much should be interpreted of it," said a Mumbai- based former Sangh pracharak who now an officebearer of the BJP. However, another Sangh sympathiser said it was not the RSS' style to alert the cadre about impending change in the leadership and if it is being done, then something is fishy.

Bhaiyyaji Joshi does not have any health issue, there is no opposition to his leadership abilities and neither has he said that he wants to retire. Under these circumstances, it only means that the party is behind this change," said the Sangh sympathiser.

The fact that the change comes close on the heels of the Delhi poll debacle for the BJP is what is prompting some of the cadre to question the move. The ex- pracharak said the Delhi poll results may have surprised the party, but it did not surprise the cadre.
