CADRE ANNOUNCES ANALYSIS SOLUTIONS TO ENHANCE SOFTWARE DEVELOPMENT
    FUNCTIONALITY
PROVIDENCE, R.I., Sept. 30 /PRNewswire/ -- Cadre Technologies Inc. today announced its Teamwork(R) Analysis Solutions, a set of products that improve the ability of developers to produce quality systems and applications. Cadre's new solutions -- Dynamic Analysis, Rapid Applications Prototyping and Requirements Analysis -- extend the domain of traditional software requirements analysis and development with additional capabilities including simulation and prototyping.
All of these solutions are based on advanced technologies that provide developers with a more effective approach to traditional software development processes. Each offers a significant advantage to developers by reducing the risk of costly redesign and recoding, thus validating customer requirements at the initial stages of the development process.
"In light of increasing competition and the resulting need to produce reliable software and system products with virtually no functional defects, software managers and developers are looking for more value from software development automation tools than ever before," said Cadre's Michael Kendall, director of product marketing. "By providing these solutions, Cadre is the first to offer the marketplace a set of solutions that provides that value and results in improved product quality and overall financial performance." Dynamic Analysis
The Dynamic Analysis solution is used by developers to predict system throughput and responsiveness, evaluate architectural and performance tradeoffs, and verify that the functional specifications meet product requirements before they begin detailed design and coding. These capabilities support development of single processor, multi- processor and client-server applications.
With an interactive and animated display of a structured analysis model, developers can examine process utilization, latency, event timing, bottlenecks, activity levels, current state, and information flow.
Dynamic Analysis is built on Teamwork/SA(R), an interactive structured analysis and functional specification tool, Teamwork/RT(R), the real-time extension tool for control flow modeling of event-driven or real-time software, and the Teamwork/SIM(R) simulation tool. Rapid Applications Prototyping
Rapid Applications Prototyping allows a developer to quickly prototype a new application based on a structured analysis model and demonstrate its user interface and operation. The developer can therefore validate the functionality of an application by showing the end-user how the application will operate before any design or coding begins. The developer can easily incorporate and demonstrate any requested changes and ensure these changes are reflected in the functional specifications.
With the Rapid Applications Prototyping solution, developers can craft a prototype graphical user interface, create prototype logic -- based on a non-ambiguous structured analysis model -- and access an existing database to quickly and iteratively incorporate and demonstrate changes requested by users.
This solution is built on Teamwork/SA, Teamwork/RT and the ShortCut(R) prototyping product. Requirements Analysis
Requirements Analysis provides a basic capability to gather, document and analyze product requirements. It supports a comprehensive ability to describe system requirements unambiguously.
Its automated and interactive graphics and text editors allow developers to enter and check detailed descriptions of the intended software's functions. The output is a set of functional specification documents free of errors that are common to simple textual specifications.
The Requirements Analysis solution is built on Teamwork/SA, Teamwork/RT, and Teamwork/IM(R) for information modeling support of entities, relationships, and attributes of all application data. Platforms, Availability, and Pricing
Teamwork products are distributed by Cadre's direct sales force in the United States, Canada and Europe. The domestic price for a typical Teamwork Analysis Solution configuration starts at under $5,000 and varies depending on the configuration.
All of the solutions are available for DEC ULTRIX(tm), HP 9000/300, 400, and HP 9000/700 running HP-UX, IBM RS/6000(tm) AIX(tm), Sun SPARC running SunOS, and VAXstation systems running VMS. In addition, Dynamic Analysis and Requirements Analysis run on Apollo(R) DOMAIN(R). Requirements Analysis is also available on IBM PC compatibles running OS/2(tm) and Silicon Graphics' IRIX systems.
Cadre Technologies Inc. develops, markets and supports leading-edge software development automation products and services. The company provides solutions to manage and automate the entire software development life cycle, as well as reverse engineering and testing. Its products are available for most workstations running UNIX(R), ULTRIX, AIX, VMS, or OS/2 operating systems.
