CADILLAC MOTOR CAR DIVISION CAPTURES MOTOR TREND 'CAR OF THE YEAR' AWARD
DETROIT, Jan. 8 /PRNewswire/ -- Cadillac Motor Car Division took a "giant step" today toward once again becoming "Standard of the World" as it captured Motor Trend's prestigious "Car of the Year" award for its 1992 Seville STS.
"This car is a real validation of Cadillac's renewed dedication to becoming absolutely the best in the world," John O. Grettenberger, Cadillac general manager, said following Motor Trend's announcement at the North American International Auto Show. "It's a goal that we believe is within our grasp and this recognition brings us a giant step closer."
The STS, along with its companion Seville model, and the Eldorado and Eldorado Touring Coupe, are built in Detroit at Cadillac's Detroit- Hamtramck Assembly Center, recently named by Industry Week magazine as one of the nation's "Ten Best" manufacturing facilities.
"Having the STS named 'Car of the Year' is an honor which I believe the people of Cadillac who designed, engineered and manufactured the STS rightly deserve," Grettenberger added.
He also promised there will be more to come. "Cadillac is back. The STS, along with the Seville, Eldorado and Eldorado Touring Coupe, are the first in a line of real showstoppers that Cadillac will deliver during this decade."
