Business and Technology Editors

TOKYO and PARIS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 7, 2000

CSC Becomes an IBM CATIA Version 5 Business Partner, IBM

Service Provider and Dassault Systemes Development Partner for

Customers in Japan and Japan-Based Companies

CADAM Systems Company (CSC), IBM(a) and Dassault Systemes (NASDAQ: DASTY), announced today that CSC has formed an alliance with IBM and Dassault Systemes. CSC is Japan's leading supplier of 2D mechanical CAD/CAM systems with more than 75,000 seats of its MICRO CADAM Helix(c) products sold to date. Dassault Systemes is the worldwide CAD/CAM/CAE/PDMII leader. Under the agreement, CSC becomes an IBM CATIA Version 5 (V5) Business Partner and IBM service provider. In addition, CSC becomes a Dassault Systemes CATIA(b) V5 strategic development partner.

Through this alliance, CSC is adopting the CATIA V5 Applications Architecture (CAA) open platform to develop specialized applications and add-ons for MICRO CADAM Helix customers based in Japan. CSC and Dassault Systemes will combine their expertise, intimate understanding of customer processes and best-in-class technology and applications. CSC will also be associated in the definition of future CATIA V5 products.

The three companies also announced today that CSC will immediately adopt CATIA V5 as the successor to its existing MICRO CADAM Helix 3D solutions, and will cease further development of these products. CSC will continue to maintain and support current MICRO CADAM Helix 2D solutions, and will develop, with Dassault Systemes, new functions and enhancements as add-ons to the CATIA V5 Interactive Drafting module. CSC will make available to MICRO CADAM Helix users dedicated support services to enable the smooth transition from 2D to 3D, and to CATIA V5, at their own pace.

In addition, CSC will provide MICRO CADAM customers with clear migration paths to CATIA V5 and its extensions. CSC will also offer attractive financial conditions and migration tools.

Explained Hiroshi Watanabe, CSC president, "The CSC-IBM-Dassault Systemes alliance illustrates our commitment to our customers. It protects and adds value to their existing Helix investment. At the same time, it offers them the possibility to take advantage of the extensive capabilities of CATIA Version 5 as their needs grow. This alliance will help us, and our highly skilled team of professionals, to become a leader in the process-centric market in Japan around CATIA V5."

Sumiyoshi Shukuri, solution executive, IBM Engineering Solutions Asia Pacific, commented, "With the addition of CSC's channel, we strengthen our sales and marketing power for CATIA Version 5. CSC, Dassault Systemes and IBM share a single objective: making CATIA V5 the standard to combine 2D and 3D CAD/CAM in Japan and Asia. With its wealth of experience and expertise in serving customers in this growing market, CSC will quickly become a key IBM Business Partner in helping us reach this goal."

Said Etienne Droit, executive vice president sales and marketing, Dassault Systemes, "We have been working together with CSC to build a strong and long-term alliance, with the right strategy and product plan around CATIA V5. With the CSC-IBM-Dassault Systemes alliance, we demonstrate to Japan-based companies that CATIA V5 addresses their current and future needs, as the pressure to integrate all aspects of product lifecycle management across the value chain increases. It is driven by the shared recognition that Japan-based companies have unique process-centric requirements that must be addressed with innovation."
