CACHE SCIENTIFIC INTRODUCES NEW MORE POWERFUL CHEMICAL DEVELOPMENT WORKSYSTEM

BEAVERTON, Ore., March 30 /PRNewswire/ -- CAChe Scientific Inc. unveiled their new WorkSystem(TM) at the American Chemical Society show in Denver, the company said today. Major hardware and software enhancements designed to improve computing performance and make the transition to computer-aided chemistry easier distinguish the new WorkSystem from earlier versions.
CAChe ProjectLeader(TM), a new CAChe application, helps chemists organize and calibrate computational experiments, automates calculations on sets of molecules and graphically analyzes results. ProjectLeader also provides a mechanism for completing computer-aided chemistry research projects by performing QSAR (quantitative structure activity relationships) and QSPR (quantitative structure property relationships) analyses. CAChe ProjectLeader interfaces with commercial spreadsheet and presentation applications.
CAChe ProjectLeader provides an easy and familiar way to manage projects using project tables and graphs to organize and execute procedures. Calculations run under CAChe ProjectLeader can be correlated with or calibrated to experimental data thereby proving the validity of computer-aided experiments. Graphing results is simply a matter of selecting data in the project table and clicking on the graphic icon that illustrates the format for the chart. Multiple windows can show, for example, the molecule and its orbitals, a project table with the chemical and its properties, along with graphs showing results of procedures.
"CAChe ProjectLeader is another example of CAChe's continuing effort to adapt computer-based tools to the way chemists currently work rather than requiring the chemist to adapt to the tools," said Lyle Ochs, CAChe vice president of marketing.
Release 3.5 for the WorkSystem also includes an implementation of MOPAC7, a comprehensive semi-empirical set of tools for reactivity modeling. CAChe ProjectLeader makes modeling complex chemical reactions with MOPAC even easier than with a graphical user interface.
A new coprocessor card, the CXP coprocessor, brings very high speed compute power to the Macintosh-based WorkSystem with 60-90 MIPS performance depending on configuration. The new WorkSystem offers two- to-three-times speed improvement over its predecessor for complex computations and stereo 3D graphics.
 Price and Availability
Prices for the WorkSystem range from $15,990 to $50,000 depending on configuration. Shipments of WorkSystems with the new hardware and software features begin in May.
