CACHE Database Powers New Telehealth Add-On To Power2 from Thornberry and FGA Software; Database Performance Speeds Telehealth Connectivity for Power2 Clinical and Financial Information Management Software.

SAN DIEGO -- Highlighting the increasing demand for mobility in homecare, InterSystems today announced that application partners Thornberry Ltd. and FGA Software Solutions are introducing new telehealth capabilities for their Power2 offering. Built on InterSystems' CACHE post-relational database, Power2 is a point-of-care and financial management software product targeting homecare agencies nationwide. Thornberry, which specializes in clinical documentation software and FGA Software, which provides financial management software in the home care sector, partnered and leveraged their technology expertise in these areas to create Power2. The announcement was made at the HIMSS 2006 conference in San Diego, Calif.

The leading database provider in healthcare, InterSystems develops and markets the CACHE post-relational database and Ensemble universal integration platform.

Enabling Improved Care Delivery

Power2 provides patent-pending technology that enables homecare agencies in today's pay-for-performance environment. The system's ability to automatically create, maintain and update outcome-based problem-specific patient care plans without clinician intervention helps improve clinical outcomes.

The new Power2 telehealth integration option links Power2 with the telehealth offering of Milwaukee, Wisc.-based Honeywell HomMed, LLC. "We share a common customer base with Honeywell HomMed, which is the largest telehealth technology provider in the country," said Thornberry President Tom Peth. "By providing connectivity between Power2 and the Honeywell HomMed database, we are providing homecare agencies with the ability to capture the most up-to-date patient information possible and to view that data within the context of the integrated electronic health record (EHR) that resides within the Power2 system.

"Critical information such as blood pressure, oxygen levels, pulse and temperature which is gathered by a telehealth monitor in the patient's home is automatically transmitted to the Honeywell HomMed data repository," Peth explained. "The information is then imported into Power2 where it can be accessed by the homecare agency's clinician from any location. By integrating clinical data captured by all sources, the telehealth enhancement supports optimum care delivery from the clinician at the patient residence."

The ability of CACHE to deliver rapid performance is absolutely necessary for successful operation of the telehealth option, according to Peth. "CACHE is the database technology foundation of Power2," he said. "It provides the speed and reliability demanded by homecare clinicians who must have easy access to a patient's medical record. This new offering illustrates why InterSystems has a proven track record of success in healthcare."

"Thornberry and FGA Software are recognized as technology leaders in homecare," said Paul Grabscheid, InterSystems Vice President of Strategic Planning. "We are pleased to be working with them as they bring the Power2 telehealth option to market."

Pricing and Availability

Pricing for the CACHE-based Power2 clinical and financial information system starts at $3,000 per user. The telehealth connectivity module is priced at $4,800.
