CAC-RAMSAY HEALTH PLANS CONTRIBUTES 100K TO THE RYDER TRAUMA CENTER

CORAL GABLES, Fla., July 22 /PRNewswire/ -- CAC-Ramsay Health Plans, South Florida's second largest health maintenance organization (HMO), is donating a $100,000 gift to the Ryder Trauma Center, University of Miami/Jackson Memorial Medical Center, located at 1800 North West 10th Ave., Miami.
Paul J. Ramsay, chairman of Ramsay-HMO, Inc. (NYSE: RMO), CAC-Ramsay Health Plans' parent company, will present the first of five annual $20,000 checks on Friday, July 23, at 10 a.m. in the lobby of the Trauma Center to Rolando Rodriguez, executive director of the Jackson Memorial Foundation.
In recognition of CAC-Ramsay Health Plans' contribution, the Ryder Trauma Center will name the Trauma Nurses Station in honor of the company.
Said Rodriguez about the $28 million Ryder Trauma Center, "The center depends on its funding through private and corporate donations. CAC-Ramsay Health Plans stepped up to bat immediately after we spoke with them and responded with a major gift. We truly appreciate their contribution and we're looking to complete the fourth floor, the final phase of the Trauma Center, before the end of year." Rodriguez adds that the third floor of the Trauma Center was recently completed.
Following the presentation, a walk-through of the entire center will be provided. Said Ramsay, "The Ryder Trauma Center is the only one of its kind in South Florida, therefore it's vital to make sure that this state-of-the-art emergency treatment facility is able to continue serving the needs of our trauma victims. CAC-Ramsay Health Plans is proud to be a contributor."
The Ryder Trauma Center -- which is a free standing unit serving as a mini-hospital in its own right, opened its doors one year ago this August. It was built and designed to be the unchallenged leader in trauma care, and is already the standard by which other facilities worldwide are planned.
CAC-Ramsay Health Plans is a South Florida-based, federally qualified health maintenance organization (HMO), serving more than 127,000 members. The company is Florida's first licensed HMO and operates in the Miami, Fort Lauderdale and Palm Beach areas.
CAC-Ramsay Health Plans is a subsidiary of Ramsay-HMO, Inc., a publicly held managed care company.
