CAC-RAMSAY HEALTH PLANS AND PALMETTO MEDICAL PLAN PHO TO PROVIDE ADDITIONAL HEALTH CARE SERVICES

 CORAL GABLES, Fla., Sept. 14 /PRNewswire/ -- CAC-Ramsay Health Plans, the first licensed health maintenance organization (HMO) in South Florida to implement a Physician Hospital Organization (PHO) partnership, is broadening its PHO arrangement with Palmetto Medical Plan, Inc.
 Effective Sept. 1, 1993, the PHO will be offered to Medicare and Medicaid members. In addition, physicians who are affiliated with Palmetto General Hospital will be able to offer a small group plan to their employees.
 Through the Palmetto Medical Plan PHO partnership with CAC-Ramsay Health Plans, those who enroll will be members of CAC-Ramsay Health Plans and as such receive a CAC-Ramsay Health Plans membership card. CAC-Ramsay Health Plans oversees all administrative services while the Palmetto Medical Plan PHO provides the health care.
 The Palmetto Medical Plan PHO was started in November of 1992 and presently serves the health care needs of more than 2,000 employees of Palmetto General Hospital and PAL-Med IPA.

 CAC-Ramsay Health Plans now has strategic alliances with three other PHOs, including South Miami Health Systems, the Pan American Network and Mount Sinai Medical Center.
 Palmetto Medical Plan, Inc. is owned by Palmetto General Hospital and the PAL-Med partnership which also owns PAL-Med Day Surgery Center and Diagnostic Centers located on the hospital's grounds.
 CAC-Ramsay Health Plans is a South Florida-based, federally qualified health maintenance organization (HMO), serving more than 127,000 members. The company is Florida's first licensed HMO and operates in the Miami, Fort Lauderdale and Palm Beach areas. CAC-Ramsay Health Plans is a subsidiary of Ramsay-HMO, Inc.
