CABs call for end to bailiffs.

A GROUP that represents Citizens' Advice Bureaux across Coventry and Warwickshire is calling for the abolition of bailiffs.

The National Association of Citizens Advice Bureaux has looked at evidence from more than 300 of its members across England and Wales.

Their report, out this week, found bailiffs regularly misrepresent their powers are abusive and agressive and use threats of violence and prison to force people to pay money they simply cannot afford.

Some of the powers given to bailiffs date back as far as 1267.
