CABOT MEDICAL ANNOUNCES NEW VIDEO PRODUCT FOR SURGERY

LANGHORNE, Pa., March 17 /PRNewswire/ -- Cabot Medical Corporation (NASDAQ-NMS: CBOT) today announced the introduction of a significant new product incorporating advanced technology for digital enhancement of video endoscopic images.
The product, to be known as the Hawk AVSTM Augmented Video System, was developed in cooperation with Digivision, Inc.
The Hawk AVSTM is a stand alone device which can take standard video images and extract significantly greater detail from them in real time. When attached to a surgical camera system, the Hawk AVSTM will allow surgeons to see more image detail with greater clarity during endoscopic procedures. The technology incorporates sophisticated analog and digital circuits and advanced software processing to draw out fine detail, definition and contrast in video images. Clinical testing of the device has been successfully concluded and has demonstrated excellent image enhancing capability for several surgical specialities, including general surgery, gynecology, urology, arthroscopy and neurosurgery.
Commenting on this introduction, Warren Wood, chairman of Cabot Medical, stated, "As the Hawk AVSTM can be attached to any existing video system, every video endoscopy system in use today is a candidate for the enhancement benefits available through this exciting, new technology. And as the retrofitting of existing units is very simple, we expect to see a large number of surgeons take advantage of this capability."
Cabot Medical designs, develops, manufactures and markets a variety of medical devices and systems for minimally invasive general, gynecological and urological surgical and diagnostic procedures.
