CABLE & WIRELESS ANNOUNCES NEW INTERNATIONAL TRAVEL CARD SERVICE
VIENNA, Va., Dec. 11 /PRNewswire/ -- Cable & Wireless Communications announced it will begin offering a new international travel card service, called PASSPORT (SM), in January to enable customers to make calls to the United States from foreign countries in Europe and the Pacific Rim. According to Gabe Battista, chief operating officer for Cable & Wireless, the new service is an enhancement to the company's existing travel card service which currently allows domestic and worldwide calling from the continental United States.
"The uniqueness of Cable & Wireless PASSPORT service lies in the value-added billing and management features that none of the other carriers offer," said Battista. "These features enable customers to integrate information about calls made from abroad into existing billing and management reports. The end result is that businesses save time and reduce expenses -- two areas which businesses are increasingly focusing on in the face of a slower economy."
Battista explained that PASSPORT rates are more cost-effective than competing services.
Cable & Wireless initially plans to offer service from 25 countries. An additional 25 countries will be added to the service in the near future.
Cable & Wireless Communications, Inc. is owned by Cable & Wireless plc (NYSE: CWP), one of the world's leading international telecommunications companies with operations in more than 50 countries and 39,000 employees worldwide. In the United States, CWC provides a full range of switched, private line and managed data services via an all-digital fiber optic network which stretches from coast to coast.
