C-COR TO PROVIDE EQUIPMENT IN UPGRADE OF WINDSOR NETWORK

STATE COLLEGE, Pa., June 11 /PRNewswire/ -- C-COR (NASDAQ: CCBL) Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Richard E. Perry announced today that C-COR's European subsidiary, C-COR Europe B.V., has been awarded the contract to supply RF and AM fiber optic equipment for the upgrade of The Cable Corporation's (TCC) network located in the Windsor, U.K., franchise area.
The upgrade, which will serve approximately 100,000 homes, will be made with C-COR's 600 MHz feedforward trunk amplifiers, AM fiber optics, and other equipment, including power supplies, status monitoring, and accessories.
The system design, provided by C-COR Europe engineering personnel, allows for upgrading the existing system to 600 MHz without moving amplifier locations. Installation, which will be completed at night to avoid interruption of service during regular hours, will be completed by Oct. 1, 1993.
Commenting on the contract, Terry Metelak, director of engineering and operations at TCC stated, "C-COR Europe was the preferred supplier because they proposed the most efficient solution to our upgrade requirement, offering the proper equipment, monitoring features, and engineering support." Rien Baan, managing director at C-COR Europe, added, "The upgrade is part of Windsor's quality improvement program, covering a channel expansion, higher reliability, and enhanced network management. They chose C-COR for its equipment reliability, on time delivery, and technical service support."
