C&W/Healey & Baker find retail tenant for 601 Fifth

Cushman & Wakefield and Healey & Baker recently combined to find a tenant for prestigious retail space in midtown Manhattan.

The tenant, British American House, signed for 3,725 square feet at 601 Fifth Avenue (at 48th Street). The 10-year lease carries an aggregate rent in excess of $4 million.

Josh N. Kuriloff and Ken Krasnow of Cushman & Wakefield, and Michael Creamer and Rebecca Ferrand of Healey & Baker, represented the landlord, Edizione Realty Corporation, a corporation owned by the Benetton family, in the transaction.

British American House, which sells high-end Italian men's suits, has two other stores in Manhattan, at 335 and 488 Madison Avenue. Hugo Boss, Canali, Corneliani and Belvest are among the major international designers whose products are sold through British American.

"We were looking on Fifth Avenue for awhile, and this location is the area we want to be in," said Paul Pravda, one of four generations of the Pravda family that own British American. He also said that he plans on opening the store in March, 1992.

Through their joint initiative, the first of its kind for the real estate industry, Cushman & Wakefield provides services in the United States for Healey & Baker clients. Healey & Baker provides services in the United Kingdom and Europe for Cushman & Wakefield clients.
