Bytesize[c]The latest game news.

ARGUABLY the greatest open-world adventure yet, Minecraft has been a cult gaming hit for some time.

But, it appears that its mainstream appeal is now increasing exponentially if Xbox Live downloads are anything to go by.

Microsoft reported that the Xbox Live Arcade version was purchased more than 400,000 times within the first 24 hours of becoming available for download. Priced at 1,600 Microsoft Points - or around pounds 15 - the game became "profitable" after just an hour of sales.

Needless to say, this is a new sales record for Xbox Live Arcade, the digital games download service offered to Xbox 360 owners.

Meanwhile, in the charts this week, Sniper Elite V2 held firm for another seven days, while FIFA Street climbed two places from four to two. It was a case of video game statues with positions five to nine unmoved from last week, while Assassin's Creed: Revelations sneaked up from 14 into tenth spot.
