JALONS Bridewell was the place to be seen on Wednesday, as the trendy bar and restaurant celebrated its launch with a bullion themed party.

Guests were treated to an evening of luxury in stark contrast to the building's original use.

Candles lit up the courtyard and guests were greeted by the soulful tune of a jazz saxophonist.

The prettiest policewomen the Bridewell has ever seen greeted guests while partygoers sipped on Laurent Perrier Champagne.

Actors from Hollyoaks and The Bill mingled with theatre starlets like Claire Sweeney and faces from Liverpool's creative and business sectors.

It was also the official launch of The Mocha Lounge, on Sir Thomas Street, last week. Over 100 guests were treated to wine and coffee cocktails as well as samples from the Mocha Lounge's menu.

Barbara Daley hosted a glamorous party to celebrate the opening of her new salon last week. The impressive venue, in Northwestern Halls, in Lime Street, was opened by Liverpool's own "Real Woman" Coleen McLoughlin. Guests were greeted by stilt-walking models in rollers.

The party continued later at Alma de Cuba.

The Radisson SAS last week hosted and event by Liverpool smoke free youth group D-MYST.

Leading figures in the health sector and other VIPs enjoyed a Hollywood-themed ceremony honouring actor and writer Neil Fitzmaurice, of North Star Productions, and Sol Papadopoulos and Roy Boulter, of Hurricane, for their stance on tobacco imagery in films aimed at young people. The evening preceded the D-MYST International Smokefree Movies Conference the next day, in St George's Hall.
