GIVE A TOY, GET A MEAL

The Sixth Street Grill has a deal for you: Drop off a new, unwrapped toy between 6 p.m. and 7 p.m. today or next Wednesday during the General Broadcasting Chatter program that touts the Eugene Generals hockey team, and get a $5 coupon to use at the grill any Saturday or Sunday you feel like eating out. The toys will go to the Foster and Adoptive Parent Association of Lane County. Any other time through November, you can drop off a toy just because you want to.

TEST TO FIND THE BEST

If a food processor is supposed to be faster and more convenient than a chef's knife, why do so many fail to make the cut? The folks at Cook's Illustrated magazine tested seven machines for its November-December issue, then rated their ability to grate, slice, chop, grind and make pastry, pizza dough and mayonnaise. The KitchenAid 12-Cup Food Processor ($169.88) came out on top.
