Lana Lindstrom has always had a soft spot for the Olympic Games and last winter, after a two-year process, she parlayed that interest into a nearly three-week stint as a volunteer for the 2014 Sochi Winter Olympics. Lindstrom will show slides and talk about her experiences during two presentations this week, at 7 p.m. today at REI Eugene, 306 Lawrence St., and at 7:30 p.m. Friday during the monthly potluck by the Obisdians (potluck begins at 6:30 p.m.; directions at www.obsidians.org).
Trade show coming up
Presentations on fishing for halibut, salmon and albacore tuna as well as trade-show vendors will be featured during the Saltwater Sportsmen's Show on Saturday and Sunday at the Oregon State Fairgrounds in Salem. Cameron Bishop will talk about the life histories, biology and taxonomy of bats, as well as the misconceptions people have of bats, during the today's 7:30 p.m. meeting of the Lane County Audubon Society at the Eugene Garden Club, 1645 High St. Bishop is a biological technician and natural resource specialist for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers who has conducted acoustic and live-capture bat surveys.
